Allan Ghent on the Nakba Archive

Ghent A.  2014.  Allan Ghent on the Nakba Archive.

Today I will be screening a series of short interview excerpts from the Nabka Archive, a testimonial project I founded in 2002 while doing doctoral fieldwork in Shatila camp in Beirut. The aim was to record filmed interviews with first-generation Palestinian refugees living primarily––but not exclusively––in the camps around Lebanon, about their lives in pre-1948 Palestine and their experiences during the 1948 expulsion––an event Palestinians refer to as al-Nakba, literally “the catastrophe”.
